She has the rights but I also agree with giving a newbie a shot. You never know how good a project can be if you keep giving the usual suspects roles
I agree, Charmaine, Mary J Blidge would be an obvious choice. I wonder, how did you like Beyonce in Cadillac records?
I for one really enjoyed Beyonce as Etta James. I couldn't complain with that one. I actually think she fit the part and was not really known as an actress when it came out. The movie itself was great, even though it had some pretty well known people it was borderline, for lack of a better word. Some were up and coming or not that well known or not as "used" as some other actors and actresses. The thing that I believe has people questioning the integrity of the Nina Simone movie is the fact that Zoe Saldana doesn't fit the part and therefore begs the question of what's really going on here.
There is no shortage of light skinned actresses or singers. Should have went with Jennifer Hudson. We all know fame is based on looks before talent. What about Fantasia? Talent yes, looks... Can India Aire act? Hollywood needs to expand their color spectrum for women. The sad part is that it's hard to name darker skinned actresses. There's just not enough
@Alexandra I think she did okay but let's be real, she is talented in the singing dept. Have you seen Carmen A hip hip opera......enough said.
@Narjah, I totally agree on the way it's coming off with Zoe playing here. I have seen better in pictures. Hell even Brandy is posts as Nina in a pic from like 2004-2005. And looks like even she can pull it off way better. There's a YouTube video of her saying happy birthday to Michael Jackson. And singing wanna be starting something. Check her poster of herself as Nina.....there's a few chocolate actresses I like too. Tika Sumpter might Borne thinnest fur for the role but she us someone to watch for and I don't remember this other lady s name but she started alongside Jill Scott in a lifetime movie and had a movie called American violet
